I was stumbling around, well, life and I ran into a few of those “make money from your couch” schemes. It’s always someone wearing clothes they rented, saying the same thing. Maybe they’re on a boat. Or doing laundry.

“Do you know how you can make fifteen thousand dollars without getting out of bed? Well let me tell you!”

Then, they proceed to ask you for money for their secrets. If you’re unfortunate enough to have given them your hard-earned cash, you realize how they’ve been making fifteen thousand dollars from their bed. It’s always a scam.

Everything worthwhile takes time. Transitioning physically takes years, maybe a lifetime. But a single image can make you believe someone woke up expressing their gender perfectly. They didn't.

Life itself is reduced to a moment captured by a short video or a highly altered photo with perfect light and angles. It’s not real. Reality is gritty. It’s difficult. Every little moment of joy exists because it’s surrounded by sorrow. The suffering makes life all the sweeter.

No one gets rich quick. And when they do, it always comes with some price. I’m writing this as a reminder to myself and perhaps to you too.
